Still blowing 40 knot winds today, but we had planned to head down to Byron Bay for a look today, so off we went. And it was exactly what I had heard about and expected... including the enormous amount of traffic. I did get a little annoyed that ALL parking except for the 20 or so street parks was $4 an hour...but as the council is aware, we didn't have a choice so had to pay if we wanted to explore the town and spend any of our tourist money. Was a great beach, typical shopping precinct and thousands of people every where we looked.
We headed up to Cape Byron and the lighthouse and then wandered around to the Eastern most point of Australia.
Had some lunch with all the Brush Turkeys down the hill at Watego Beach then scooted off to Ballina. Was as windy as ....., but i still "encouraged" everyone to come for a walk out to the end of the breakwater, where the wind seemed to have doubled in speed. Another fantastic seaside town with great surf beaches, walking trails and national park areas to explore.
We went driving into the town centre, where we stumbled across a local Woolies, so yep.... in we went and contributed to their ever rising profits and to our ever increasing credit card debt!
