To the Gold Coast

14th September

We set off for the leg of the entire trip that the kids have been waiting for, since the day we left - The Gold Coast - where we would be visiting "The Worlds". We did manage to contain the excitement a tiny bit by pointing out that the first day was to be spent in the pool at the caravan park and setting up, but as soon as they saw the pictures of the pool with its waterslide, there was no holding them back.
As it was only an hour away, we ended up in Oxenford, which is our home for the next week, too early to book in, so off we went for the obligatory Woolworths shopping outing. This is another one of the kids highlights of the holidays, because they can ask Tracy (all at the same time of course) if they can buy some rubbish food or drink at least 3 times down every aisle. Of course this makes the task such an enjoyable moment. An hour later and after I have managed to sneak in at least 4-5 items not on the list, I am standing at the checkout convulsing at the total spend very quickly overtaking the number of kilometers we have travelled in the last month, but making sure that my goodies have been scanned through before expressing my concerns.... which of course is something I know shouldn't be said, but being the dumb ass bloke I am, I say it anyway.
These Big 4 caravan parks are horribly expensive, but the money spent by us is well and truly poured back into the park with masses of infrastructure and entertainment with great camp kitchens (not that we ever use them), jumping pillows and almost always brilliant pools. In this case, as weird as it sounds, the best facility here is the toilets / showers. They are brand new and absolutely immaculate. Huge showers with great design, spotlessly clean and just huge...
And to top it off.... they have a Salt Water Aquarium in the entrance way to the amenities.... living Coral, rocks and about 50 fish..
It was only forecast as 24 degrees today, but as always, it feels nearly 5 degrees warmer, so off to the pool we went for the afternoon.

Tomorrow...... Wet N wild
