As usual, I wanted to get out and about and explore all the surrounding suburbs and their foreshores, so we headed back North ( a whole 25km) to look at Swansea and the suburbs in between. As always, I was fascinated at just being near the water, the way people live and play, and the superb infrastructure and foreshore developments that the councils up this way develop. Back home, if you don't live in Glenelg or Henley Beach, you don't seem to get much at the beach front, yet up here, it doesn't matter what the town is, there is always something along the foreshore to invite people into their town.
I went to a few more beaches with the family humouring me by smiling every time I looked their way but secretly being bored stupid, and finally found a playground on the foreshore at Blacksmiths where we stopped and had lunch courtesy of the local chip shop.
On the way back, Tracy suddenly announced that the anxiety she had been getting over the last few days was about to disappear, as she had spotted a local Woolworths where we could unload any last credit we had on our cards. (I think Woolies were about to call us anyway, as they hadn't been graced with our presence for at least 6 days and were wondering if we were still alive...!!)
So back at the camp, I did the only thing a good parent should do, and sent the kids off to the pool while I set up the TV in true Glamping Style to watch the Bathurst race. Once the cold had set into their bones and their lips had turned blue, I sat them in the sun for a while whilst I continued to watch the race unfold.
The wind had started picking up now as well, so despite the beautiful sunny weather, the wind was quite annoying.
Tracy then whipped up a fantastic pork roast and vegies that I almost messed up by not having the heat high enough on the Weber to compensate for the wind, but it eventually turned out great and was 100% devoured in about 10 minutes.
Tomorrow - Sydney ( Well Lane Cove anyway )
