Today I learnt that I have my jewels back to front. I also discovered that Sapphire Beach is NOT Emerald Beach. Apparently the great Big4 park we were supposed to be going to is at Emerald Beach, however I had booked us into Sapphire Beach. We passed through a small place called Woodburn on the way here, and decided to go for another 40 minutes before stopping for lunch. Trouble with that plan was that just around the corner was roadworks that had the whole Pacific Highway stopped for over 1 Km each way, just to clear out a drain. It took about 15-20 minutes and a few choice words to get through, but eventually we found a truck parking bay on the side of the highway where we stopped for lunch and let the kids loose for 30 minutes to shout at each other about who cheats the most in any game they happen to be playing. arrived mid-afternoon and as Tracy is booking in, I am staring at the pool under construction with workmen everywhere, the reasonably old facilities and a very much less wealthy park than where we were intending on being. As it has turned out however, it is a nice quiet park, with friendly staff and 1 of 2 pools open, albeit there is no coping tiles, no surrounding grass and 4 workmen grinding away in the adjoining empty pool (grinding with grinders by the way, not with their bodies watching me parade around the pool in my bathers!). Not the serene photo I was hoping for......
