Noosa

3rd - 5th September

Leaving Hervey Bay was a bit sad, but with the amount of places we still want to visit, it has to be done. We were in no rush so the most obvious thing for me to do was to start to wash the van and get rid of all the squashed bugs and road grime (because that was definitely the last time the van was going to get dirty!). By the time Tracy had finished laughing at me I was done, so we hitched up and moved on.
We then ambled down the coast to visit a place called Tin Can Bay where they apparently try to rip tourists off to feed some dolphins that swim into shore at high tide... which was going to be only a couple of hours after our arrival. We got there right on mid-day and found the wind to be blowing hard enough to rip the tar off the road, so we found a semi sheltered park, had lunch, then got moving again.
We diverted into Gympie for the mandatory stop at Woolies and to catch up with my Aunty Jan & Uncle Alan, then finally arrived at Noosa just before 6pm. This park turned out to be packed, and we got one of the remaining few sites right down the back in the overflow area, but as it turns out, as long as it stays dry this will be great as there is only 6 sites, a dead end road and very few other disturbances (not that any different conditions would rattle my easy going relaxed self...).
The following morning, we headed into Noosa heads (we are actually staying at Tewantin - about 8km out) to have a look around and go for a walk through the National Park. The look around ended up taking longer than expected due to Tracy indulging in a bit of retail therapy and the kids wanting to see if the sand on the beach is any different to all the other beaches we have been to, so we headed back and promptly spent the afternoon in the pool.
Next day (this morning), we set off into Noosa Heads again to walk through the National Park, only to find that the Noosa Jazz Festival is on for the next 4 days and we cant get a carpark within 5km of anywhere. Sunshine beach was second option, so we went for a stroll and tested the sand on the other side of the peninsula - yep... it was the same, only this time flanked by pounding waves and heavily guarded surf life savers.
This afternoon i was treated to an early "Happy fathers Day"..... (no... not that...). Tracy had booked me into a local massage therapist for an hour to relieve some of the multitude of aches and pains this ageing body wakes up with every morning, while she went to the mandatory Woolworths visit ( yep.... every stop so far...). Only this time the visit turned out to be for a plate full of my favourite platter snacks for afternoon nibbles...... yummo. I am a doubly happy man... (waiting for the hat trick now...)
