Whilst I have tried every way possible to delay coming home, this is it... our last night away. I had been planning on going along the coast to Meningie, but the lure of activities for the kids to do ( and Tracy telling me otherwise...) we headed into Keith........ however after a huge 12 minutes of driving from our not so grassy spot at Tantanoola, we were at Millicent Playground and Skate park. This suited me fine, because we stayed here for the next 3 hours just wasting time, Tracy did a couple of errands in town and we eventually had lunch on the lush green grass. But then that was it.... no more delays. Off to Keith we drove and arrived at another large playground just off the main road that has a steel "train" that the kids love and they subsequently spent the next 2 hours playing on. The carpark directly opposite the playground had heaps of signage for caravan parking, but nothing really indicating whether we were allowed to stay over night or not. That was good enough for us to decide we were going to stay put, and even go to the pub for our final meal instead of paying caravan park fees.... and if the police / council come and try to move us on, it will be too bad. The meal at the pub was good, the cold drinks were even better and the kids icecream I ordered for myself for dessert topped it all off.
The night was pretty uneventful with no-one knocking on the door during the night, but the 247 semi trailers I counted thundering past on the Dukes Highway while I attempted to get some sleep made the morning a time that couldn't have come sooner. As such we were packed up, breakfast eaten and in the car by 8am.
We are now just over 2 hours from finishing this amazing journey..... and I am still doing all I can to avoid arriving home before lunch. So I thought of the last Hoorah and veered into Murray Bridge where Tracy could settle her nerves in the local Woolworths store and empty any last remaining funds on our credit card.
40 minutes later and 11,421 kilometers we were home.....no more adventures... no more stories, and no more blogs. Not sure which part is the saddest.
Now to clean up..... It's gonna be a loooong couple of days. Especially considering it is forecast for 37 degrees today and tomorrow.
( I think this is becoming Tracy's logo on her phone now)
