After a bit of discussion last night, we decided today was going to be a lazy "stay at home" day, and the kids could spend some time in the pool ( forecast for 21 degrees......).
I did what I could to help by sleeping in till after 8 am whilst Tracy went on her healthy morning walk and the kids played on iPads and watched TV. I then helped out some more by cooking up a storm of bacon and eggs for me and the kids and then sat down for a bit of Facebook browsing.
It was at about that time we agreed to go for a walk into Port Fairy and see what there was to see. We found a nice little 2.5km walk around Griffiths Island that took us through a Sheerwater (seabird) colony and protected reserve, along the beach and to the Griffith Lighthouse and a number of interesting plaques telling us all about its history. The kids then told us that in return we had to sit and wait while they competed in a Ninja Warrior session on the local playground, but thankfully the lure of lunch and a clean toilet helped us back to the caravan park within 10 minutes.
As it turns out, this park has a heated indoor pool, that was fantastic... so much so that even we spent an hour in the pool with the kids, having a really fun time.
Tonight is time to say goodbye to Victoria..... tomorrow we cross the line and appear back in the South Australia map.... somewhere around Mt Gambier. This holiday is getting way too close to finishing now, and despite me trying to delay getting home.. it is happening.
