After more than 3 months on the road, we finally struck a pig of a van park at Lake Narracan. It is council owned with brand new managers and the front area ( which is what we saw in the reviews ) is quite good. but the park is horrible. There are only 6 powered sites stuck in between permanent vans / hovels that are full of Collingwood supporters with their 15 kids each running rampant through the park. It didn't help that it rained solidly for the next 24 hours with a few 70km/hr gusts of wind intermingled with steady 50km/hr winds for the rest of the time, and that we were right out the back on an un-mowed paddock with no power or running water that was quickly turning into a frog infested swamp. We seriously considered moving to a different park, but that was next to impossible with the wind and rain so we braved it out. The next day, there were some clear patches, so we went to a local skate park for a while to pass some time and hope by the time we returned the van was still all there, including the wheels.
We also found a great little nature walk, where the kids showed us the way a Weyland Tree would look like in a forest, and showed us their true conservationist spirit by trying to repair a broken log on the fence with some Weyland Wood.
Tomorrow we are off to the Sorrento - Queenscliffe Ferry to go to Torquay
(The Weyland Tree, according to Tyler, Dylan and Kayla)
(A repaired log, thanks to Tyler and Dylan)
