Today was planned on being a bit of an exploring day to see Port Stephens and the surrounding areas. We spent the morning in the pool - as you do when on holidays - then set off after lunch. I discovered that Port Stephens itself is actually the whole peninsula made up of lots of bays, and not a single location. We visited Shoal Bay, Nelson Bay, Corlette and Solsiers Point, returning to our site via Birubi Beach, Fishermans Bay, Anna Beach and One Mile Beach, They are all beautiful sandy beaches with very safe areas for swimming in the bays, and more great surf on the Eastern sides (Birubi and One Mile Beach etc).
There are some amazing history lessons to be learned at the Nelson Bay lighthouse and museum, along with some more great views. Apparently yhere were whales in the bay yesterday morning, but no sign of them today
