Warner Bros. Movie World

16th September

Another reason to move to Qld.... An amazing place filled with all the Hollywood glitz and glamour you could expect. There was always some Warner Bros. character appearing from the darkness and interacting with the kids, as well as posing for photos.
We went straight into a 4D movie where the seats jolted and sprayed misty water and was quite cool, but Dylan was hankering for a lot more......It seems we have created an Adrenalin Junkie in Dylan. He was jumping out of his skin, reading the park map 10 times over so he could get to the scariest ride as quickly as possible and be ready for the next one before even finishing,
We relented and headed off to the kids section and found the Roadrunner - a mini version of a big boys roller coaster. The line up was only about 5 minutes wait, thanks to our excellent planning of being here before school holidays start next week, and we all went on it.
The kids faces were beaming with excitement, whilst i was asking myself what the %$# I have gotten myself into....It was actually a full on roller coaster and a pretty decent ride - but not enough for Dylan - he wanted the big one. We did manage to convince him to go on some of the lesser stomach churning fun to appease Kayla's desires, but we very quickly learnt that she is also hooked on "the fun stuff" but is unfortunately restricted due to not being tall enough.
We found the Scooby Doo Scooby Coaster next which had a 45 minute lineup, but they were willing to wait, so wait we did....(Yawn). That was also pretty cool and reasonably scary - riding in a coaster car 17m high in pitch black at times with some strategically timed strobe lighting to let you glimpse the next 180 degree back jarring turn about to hit.
Next was the famous stunt driving with a couple of very impressive V8 utes and motor bikers jumping 20+ metres into the air off some ramps - pretty cool also.
Coming out of that, I had to give in and take Dylan on the only adult ride he was allowed on - The BatWing Spaceshot. Essentially this thing shoots you 60m into the air at a 4.5G gut wrenching speed, then drops you 30 metres at almost the same speed. I couldn't believe it as we were flying upwards faster than my breakfast was trying to come out, and Dylan was pointing out one of the other rides he could see from his new vantage point... my plan of scaring the you-know-what out of him has failed miserably.....
Towards the late afternoon, the crowds dwindled considerably, so I took the opportunity to go on the Green Lantern Roller Coaster. Surprisingly enough this wasn't as terrifying as it looked, even with the corkscrew twists, negatively inverted drop that is apparently the steepest in the Southern Hemisphere , and horrendously fast speeds.
The rest of the afternoon was spent in the Scooby Coaster over and over again, thanks to the 1 minute wait in line, and finally 5pm arrived, giving me the break I needed and the chance to finally head back for a rest. (However, if i had time to go on the other 2 roller coasters, I certainly would have ! I think I know where Dylan gets his desire for thrills from...)
